40 Jahre Rooftop Concert Beatles in the sky with Nachmachern

Heute ist ein denkwürdiger Tag: Vor genau 40 Jahren, am 30. Januar 1969, haben die Beatles ihr allerletztes Konzert gespielt - auf dem Dach des Apple Buildings in London. Und weil man den Beatles ja eigentlich alles nachmacht, sind viele andere Bands von U2 bis Tokio Hotel später auch aufs Dach gestiegen. Und in manchen Fällen leider nicht runtergefallen. Eine kleine Chronologie der Popkonzerte auf Dächern.

1969: Mit langen Haaren und Vollbart gegen die Eiseskälte…

John, Paul, Ringo, und George lösen einen Hype aus und ausnahmsweise hat der einmal nichts mit ihren Frisuren oder ihrem Sound zu tun. Vor genau 40 Jahren sind die vier Genies in London auf das Dach ihres Studiogebäudes geklettert und haben nach langer Pause endlich wieder live ihre Gitarren angestöpselt. 1969 kriselt es aber schon zwischen Jungs und so wird das kurze Konzert auf dem Apple Building ihr letztes sein.

George Harrison weigert sich kategorisch, noch mal auf Tournee zu gehen - aber ein Film zum neuen Album "Let It Be" geht in Ordnung. Nur der knackige Schluss dafür fehlt noch - da kommt Paul McCartney DIE Idee: Up, up the Rooftop, an einem richtig windigen Tag im Januar. Mittags, mitten zur Rush Hour, mischen die Jungs London auf und spielen für die immer größer werdende Meute am Fuß des Gebäudes ein kleines Konzert mit "Don’t Let Me Down" "One After 909" und "Get Back". Das ist das magische Ereignis, ab da geht’s los mit den Popkonzerten über den Dächern!

1987: Mittelscheitel und oben Ohne, so machen das U2!

Bei sommerlichen Temperaturen, mit kinnlangen Haaren und Mittelscheitel - so startet Bono die erste Beatles-Dachimitation. Für das Video zum U2 Song "Where The Streets Have No Name" wagt sich die Band aufs Dach eines Liquor Stores mitten in L.A. 35.000 Leute liegen ihnen zu Füßen und warten geduldig, bis die Band den ersten Ton spielt. Nachdem der Verkehr in der Innenstadt vor lauter kreischenden Fans komplett zusammenbricht, macht die Polizei von L.A. kurzen Prozess und reißt den Jungs von U2 einfach die Gitarren aus der Hand. Wer nicht hören will, wenn der Mann mit Uniform sagt: "Das Konzert ist aus!", der muss eben fühlen.

2002: Hey, Du kommst hier nicht rein - Exklusivkonzert!

7. Juni. Hamburg. Saturn Haus. Yes, die Red Hot Chilli Peppers geben ihr Konzert vor einem ausgewähltes Publikum über den Dächern von Hamburg. Die Jungs haben aus den Fehlern ihrer Vorgänger gelernt, denn bei einem ausgewählten Publikum hat die Polizei keinen Grund das Konzert frühzeitig abzubrechen... und vielleicht sind die Deutschen da auch lockerer... da funktioniert der Beatles-Imitationsversuch um einiges besser.

2006: Wir wollen da auch mitspielen!

In diesem Jahr versuchen die kleinen Buben von Tokio Hotel auf den Zug der großen Dach-Popkonzerte aufzuspringen. Was U2 und die Chilli Peppers können, das kann Bill doch schon lange. Und der Videodreh nah am Himmel macht sich doch gut bei den bekannten Vorbildern. Natürlich muss ein Kinodach in Berlin Mitte für den Dreh zur Single "Der letzte Tag" her halten - Berlin ist ja grad super angesagt! Wie passend, dass der Text mit den Zeilen "Jetzt sind wir wieder hier, hier oben auf dem Dach" anfängt. Schlaue Burschen.

2009: Und die Rolling Stones?

Die Beatles feiern ihr 40-jähriges Rooftop-Konzert-Jubliäum. Die Rolling Stones hätten dieses Jahr auch so ein Ehrenfest, wenn sie am 7. Oktober 1969 tatsächlich auf das Springer Hochaus in Berlin gestiegen wären, um das angekündigte Konzert bis in die DDR schallen zu lassen. Aber sie tauchen nicht auf und lassen die DDR-Jugend samt ihren heimlich ausgepackten Lederjacken im Stich. Die Stones waren halt immer schon ein bisschen mehr Rock’n'Roll als die Beatles!

Today is a memorable day: Exactly 40 years ago, on 30 January 1969, the Beatles have their very last concert played - on the roof of the Apple Building in London. With summer temperatures, with kinnlangen hair crest and resources - as Bono starts the first Beatles-imitation roof. For the video for the U2 song "Where The Streets Have No Name" the band ventured onto the roof of a liquor store in the middle of LA 35,000 people lie at the feet of them and wait patiently until the band plays the first note. After the traffic in the city before a loud screaming fans completely collapses, the LA Police brief process and pulls the guys from U2 just the guitars out of hand. Who does not want to hear when the man in uniform says: "The concert is made of," just feel the need.

2002: Hey, you come here not purely - exclusive concert!

7. June. Hamburg. Saturn House. Yes, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert give it before a distinguished audience on the rooftops of Hamburg. The boys have learned from the mistakes of their predecessors learned, because in a selected audience, the police no reason to cancel the concert early ... and perhaps also because the Germans loose ... as does the Beatles-imitation experiment a lot better.

2006: We want to play as well!

This year, try the little boys from Tokio Hotel on the train to the large roof aufzuspringen pop concerts. What U2 and the Chili Peppers can, but the Bill may be a long time. 2009: And the Rolling Stones?

The Rolling Stones had this year as an honorary feast, when they on 7 October 1969 actually on the Springer Hochaus in Berlin would have risen to the announced concert to ring in the GDR it. But they do not appear to leave the GDR, and youth and their leather jackets secretly unpacked in the lurch. The Stones were always hold a little more rock 'n' roll than the Beatles!
